What this covers

Phoenix is hard on fences. Sun dries and twists the wood, monsoon soil moves the posts, and a gate that hung square in March drags by August. Most repairs are re-squaring, resetting and replacing hardware rather than replacing the fence. The repair note on sun damage on the west side covers what heat and sun do to gates, hinges and finishes.

How pricing works
Priced per gate or section

quoted flat once there are photos of the post and the latch

March and October are the right months for exterior wood work. Once it hits 105 the finish and the crew both suffer.

Referred out, not attempted

New fence runs over roughly 30 feet, block wall construction, structural masonry and wrought iron welding go to a licensed fencing, masonry or welding contractor.

Insider tip

Ask for the “while you’re here” rate. Adding a second small job to a visit is almost always cheaper than booking a separate call for it.

Fence & gate repair questions

Why does my gate sag every summer?

Two things at once: the sun dries and twists the wood while monsoon soil lets the hinge post lean. An anti-sag cable kit plus a properly reset post holds far longer than shimming the hinges again.

Can you make my pool gate pass inspection?

Self-closing hinges, a self-latching mechanism at the required height and a gap check are standard work here. Anything structural about the barrier itself gets referred to a licensed contractor.

Do you replace whole fences?

Sections and short runs, yes. A full perimeter replacement is a licensed fencing contractor job and gets referred rather than half-taken.

Can a gate post attach to my block wall?

Yes, and in a lot of Valley yards that is the strongest option available. It takes masonry anchors and a plumb bracket rather than a post in the ground.
